After Abraham gives Hagar and Ishmael the boot, they find themselves in a pretty prickly predicament. Hagar runs out of resources and places her son underneath a bush in the wilderness. Ishmael may be an ass but he’s God’s ass;God promises to bless Ishmael in spite of his questionable past and reckless tendencies. God specializes in using less than stellar people.
